Natural Environment

This will be an interactive workshop designed to translate environmental awareness into simple and achievable action, hosted by Penn's Beekeeping Club. Participants will learn:

  • Why native plants are important for pollinator survival
  • How urban spaces (even balconies and windowsills!) can become bee-friendly habitats
  • The connection between biodiversity, food systems, and climate resilience
  • Everyday practices to avoid that unintentionally harm pollinators

After a short educational session, attendees will:

  • Receive a packet of locally appropriate native wildflower seeds
  • Learn how to plant and maintain them successfully
  • Take home a simple “Bee-Friendly Action Guide” with concrete steps they can implement immediately

We will also cover practical lifestyle shifts such as:

  • Choosing native over ornamental landscaping
  • Reducing or eliminating pesticide use
  • Supporting local beekeepers and regenerative agriculture
  • Planting in bloom cycles to ensure continuous forage
  • Letting lawns “rewild” in small, intentional ways
