Announcing The Green Purchasing Award

June 12, 2015

Penn Purchasing Services, in conjunction with Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee (ESAC) and Penn Green Campus Partnership (GCP), has announced the Green Purchasing Award. The award is to be presented at the Purchasing Services Supplier Show on Tuesday September 29th.

The Green Purchasing Award is for an individual or team who significantly advances the development of sustainable purchasing practices at Penn. The goal is to spotlight those who are championing sustainability across campus, as well as to celebrate key projects that are contributing to a more sustainable future.

Green Purchasing is the practice of buying products that will have a less negative impact on the environment. The entire life cycle of a product must be assessed. From design, to production, through use and disposal, the product purchased should have less adverse environmental impacts, even if the upfront financial cost is higher.

More than just sharing environmentally preferred purchasing strategies, and sustainability ideas and practices across Penn, this award will recognize individuals or groups who have gone above and beyond expectations.

It is not too late to submit nominations!
