Join the Weitzman School of Design Landscape Architecture department in celebrating the work of Professor Emeritus, Co-Founder, The Ian L. McHarg Center for Urbanism & Ecology, Richard Weller. By presenting the visuals from his two most recent books, ‘An Art of Instrumentality’ and ‘To the Ends of the Earth: A Grand Tour for the Twenty-First Century’ this exhibition acknowledges Richard’s chairmanship of the landscape architecture department at Weitzman from 2012—2022.  The first part of the exhibition, “ODDS” is drawn from An Art of Instrumentality and summarizes Richard’s research and practice over a 4-decade period. The second part of the exhibition drawn from To the Ends of the Earth derives from Richard’s teaching, in particular, a theory class titled The Culture of Nature which he has taught since 1994. Together, these “odds and ends” represent Richard’s career-long effort to integrate research, teaching, and practice into a critical form of landscape architecture – a form of landscape architecture that is at once art and instrument.
