Penn Sustainability is working to improve the off-campus move out experience by reducing neighborhood litter and increasing access to donation options for Penn students. With support from the Office of Social Equity & Community, Facilities and Real Estate Services, and the Office of Community & Government Affairs, we’ve made donating your unwanted items easy this year! Working with Rego and the Philadelphia Furniture Bank, you can arrange for free curbside pick-up May 16-31. They are accepting furniture of all sizes, kitchen items, clothing, and more.

A Cleaner, Greener move out experience

Curbside bulk trash pickup every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday* May 9th-30th
*No household trash will be picked up on Fridays, only bulk trash (mattresses, broken furniture, etc.)
Off-campus UPenn students between 40th and 43rd streets, and Baltimore and Chestnut streets, can now schedule a free curbside pickup from May 16th through May 31st for their gently used items. That means two professional movers and a box truck will come directly to your door to haul your donations away—no heavy lifting, no logistics, no stress.
Your donations don’t just disappear. Furniture gets redistributed to support local families throughout Philadelphia. Clothing and electronics are reused or responsibly recycled. And every item you give helps keep these items out of landfills while supporting our neighbors in Philadelphia.

Curbside Bulk Trash Removal
For items that cannot be donated, Penn provides an additional day of curbside trash pick-up every Friday in May between 40th to 42nd Street, Chestnut Street to Baltimore Ave. Please bag your unwanted items and place them neatly outside your residence for collection. Please be aware, the city has added a second pick-up day to its regular pick-up schedule throughout May, so you will have three pick-up options each week.
